What causes Starlink to keep dropping (in order of likelihood)

1. Obstructions.A blocked sky view is the most common cause of repeated drops. Trees, rooflines, poles, and even a nearby branch that clips the edge of the field of view force extra handoffs and outages. 2. Normal satellite handoffs.Starlink is a moving network, and it hands your connection between satellites frequently. Very short interruptions during those handoffs are expected and are not a fault — they are the price of a low-orbit network. If your only “drops” are sub-second blips that never disrupt a call or a stream, the connection is behaving normally.

3. Overheating. In direct sun and high ambient heat the dish can reach a protective temperature limit and go offline until it cools, which the app reports as a thermal or high-temperature state. If your drops cluster in the hottest hours and clear in the evening, heat is a strong suspect. Give the dish airflow and avoid a fully enclosed, sun-baked mounting pocket.
